We've traveled through a lot of questions. I hope that as you continue, you go back and continue to mull over your ideas and any questions that came up while you examined your thoughts and expectations. Homeschooling is a journey because of the way it intermingles with life and all its surprises and seasons. Where my family is now is so far from where we started. It continues to evolve and grow. I hope these questions have helped shape the foundation from which to help you launch your journey with diligence and purpose. Here are a final few questions to help you continue to move forward in your own journey.
Finish these sentences:
-After working through all these questions, the thought I want to hang on to most is…..
-The most pressing questions I want to find answers to are….
-Three words that describe your emotional state at the thought of homeschooling are...
-In order to begin a homeschool journey I need to…
-My next step will be to….
When you are ready, it can be very helpful to write out a mission statement for your homeschool. This is not your ‘how’, but your ‘why’. What is your main end-goal in embarking as a family on your homeschooling journey? Write it out in one sentence. Then place it somewhere you can see it (on your fridge?) This is the statement that you can use to lens your decisions through. Does a particular curriculum move you towards your mission? Or is it an extra load? Having a hard day and want to send your kids off to school? Read your mission statement to recenter your heart on your purpose in home education.
I pray that your journey will be filled with joy, hope and wonder as you chase Jesus and His best for your family. My prayer is that these questions have encouraged conversations that will bless and encourage your family as you follow Jesus on path of abundance for you and your family.
P.S. There are many more resources to come to equip, encourage and strengthen you homeschool journey. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of your story and I pray that you will enjoy the incredible blessings that are found on this path.
